Automated Bubble-Free Gel Dispensing System for Cell Culture

Collaborated with SCREEN Holdings and a multidisciplinary team to design and develop an automated dispensing system for high-viscosity cell culture gel. The project aimed to improve dispensing accuracy, repeatability, and reliability while eliminating air bubbles that could affect cell culture quality. Inspired by the motion system of 3D printers, we developed a precision dispensing platform capable of accurately dispensing gel into well plates.

  • Designed and developed an automated dispensing system for high-viscosity cell culture gel.
  • Applied 3D printer motion control principles to achieve precise positioning and repeatable dispensing.
  • Contributed to the mechanical design, prototype assembly, and system integration of the dispensing platform.
  • Optimized the dispensing process to minimize air bubble formation and improve consistency.
  • Collaborated with SCREEN Holdings engineers and university supervisors throughout the design, testing, and validation phases.

Benchmark of Conventional and Center-Tapped Dual Active Bridge Converter

Contributed to a research project investigating the performance of conventional and center-tapped Dual Active Bridge (DAB) DC-DC converter topologies for high-efficiency power conversion. My role focused on developing laboratory automation tools to improve the safety, reliability, and efficiency of experimental testing, supporting the preparation of a research paper submitted to the IEEE International Power Electronics Conference (IPEC) 2026, Nagasaki.

  • Developed Python-based automation software to control laboratory instruments during DAB converter experiments.
  • Implemented SCPI communication for programmable power supplies and electronic loads.
  • Designed safety features including emergency shutdown protection and controlled power-down sequences to prevent sudden voltage transients during testing.
  • Automated test procedures, data acquisition, and instrument coordination to improve experimental efficiency and repeatability.
  • Assisted with experimental setup, system integration, and performance evaluation of SiC MOSFET-based DAB converter prototypes.

Rocker-Bogie Transformable Wheel Rover

Designed and developed a transformable mobile robot capable of altering its wheel geometry to improve mobility over stairs and obstacles. The project involved full-cycle development — from concept and CAD design to fabrication, programming, and testing — with the goal of creating a robot that could adapt its locomotion to challenging terrain.

  • Designed CAD components for the robot's wheels and manipulator mechanism, ensuring structural integrity and smooth mechanical operation.
  • Developed a passive gear-based transformation mechanism that switches the wheel from a circular to a fan-shaped configuration, enabling the robot to climb stairs and traverse uneven surfaces.
  • Programmed joystick-based teleoperation using Raspberry Pi and ROS, allowing real-time user control of movement and transformation.
  • Designed and implemented a hook-based manipulator driven by three servo motors for grasping and interacting with objects.
  • Integrated a camera and servo-controlled mechanism to enhance observation and manipulation capabilities.
  • Diagnosed and resolved mechanical, electrical, wiring, and power-related failures throughout robot testing.
  • Collaborated with team members to integrate mechanical, electrical, and software systems into a single functional platform.
